Located on the eastern shore of Charlotte Harbor, this small boating and
fishing community is an undiscovered gem. It's directly across from Boca Grande Pass, surrounded by mangrove islands. Eight
navigable canals form the nucleus of the neighborhood. Just a short 10-minute
drive north on Burnt Store Road and all the conveniences of a modern world
are available to you, but once you've driven into Pirate Harbor the pace of
the 21st century can be a memory. It's time to watch mullet
jump, red fish tail, egrets and spoonbill work the shallows, pelicans diving
from the sky for a meal.... You get the idea.
If you're looking for your piece of paradise, this is a spot where you will want to take a closer look. Use these links to search for available Pirate Harbor properties (click on map markers for the details): Pirates Harbor's canal system and the pass to the harbor have recently been dredged. The dredging plan was designed to take the low-tide depth to 5 foot. The thumbnail above shows the recent dredging project. However, while boating in the area I noted that the main channel had not been dredged. Checking on the County's website it appears that the dredge is having permitting issues.
